How to Form a Clean Eating Plan

March 8, 2017 By Colleen 11 Comments

I'd love it if you'd share this post:

So after all these posts on clean eating, are you thinking about starting a clean eating plan? Although it’s a huge lifestyle change for most people and requires a lot of commitment, it can be done!  And you will feel so much better! Here are some tips on how to form a clean eating plan.

Take a closer look at what you’re currently eating. In order to begin a cleaner eating plan, it’s important to know what foods in your diet need to be eliminated or adjusted. Consider starting a food journal for about a week to figure out which areas need improvement.

Look for healthier alternatives. While you’re probably want to give up your parlor pizza, this doesn’t mean you can’t have pizza at all! Look for clean eating recipes that contain natural ingredients. You might consider trying a pizza made with a cauliflower crust, for example.

Know which areas of the grocery store to shop in. The general rule of thumb is that you should shop the outer parameter of the store. Avoid the middle aisles, which is where you’re more likely to find processed foods like boxed mac ‘n cheese.

Take the plunge. A big mistake that many people make is slowly weaning themselves from their former diet. Instead of taking it slow, quit cold turkey and jump right in. I have found this the only way for me.  This will help you avoid putting it off until another day.

These are just tips on how to form a clean eating plan! While it will take adjustment, you will find that it gets easier with time.  Questions?  Just ask in the comments!

I already do these steps but my downfall is cookies. I always have some at home to keep me from getting dessert if I go to a restaurant to eat, but then I end up eating them all the time and I doing all the good my healthy eating has done me.

Rae make your own cookies so that at least you know that the ingredients are better 🙂

I mostly shop the outer edges of grocery stores. I don’t have processed foods in my house.

I really agree with just jumping right in. I think it’s actually easier than to trying to wean yourself off of foods.

I’ve never thought about it. I pretty much eat what I can when I can. Sometimes I go several days without getting hungry. My husband reminds me to eat.

I am the world’s worst eater. If I cook I eat that all week. This week I have only eaten a bowl of ceral night and string cheese.
