Charred Sugar Rub Crusted Alaska Salmon
This Charred Sugar Rub Crusted Alaska Salmon is something unusual to make this summer! Of course it will work with other fish but living in Alaska – we happen to have wild caught Alaska Salmon. This would be delicious with Sockeye Salmon or King Salmon. Cooking a variety of fish is a great way to eat healthy and clean during the summer, especially if you can catch your own fish.
To use a rub on fish, first drizzle a little oil over the fish to help the rub stick, then sprinkle the desired amount of the rub evenly on the fish. Cook the fish using your preferred method, such as grilling or baking, until it’s done.

Recipe for Charred Sugar Rub Crusted Alaska Salmon
Charred Sugar-Crusted Alaska Salmon
Ingredients
Dry Sugar Rub Ingredients:
- 2 Tbsp sugar
- 1 Tbsp chili powder
- 1 tsp black pepper
- ½ Tbsp ground cumin
- ½ Tbsp paprika
- ½ Tbsp salt
- ¼ tsp dry mustard
- Dash of cinnamon
To make
- 4-6 Alaska salmon fillets 4 to 6 oz each, fresh or thawed
- oil for frying
- lemons for garnish
- 3 cups cooked spinach
Instructions
- Blend all ingredients for Dry Sugar Rub.
- Generously coat one side of each Alaska salmon fillet with mixture.
- Heat oil in large heavy pan over medium high heat.
- Carefully place the salmon fillets in the pan, seasoned side down. Cook about 2 minutes to sear; then turn fillets over.
- Reduce heat to medium and continue cooking 6-8 minutes until the fish is opaque throughout.
- Serve salmon over cooked spinach with lemons for garnish and squeezing on the fish.
