I'd love it if you'd share this post:

What You Should Know About CBD and Controlling Seizures

Controlling Seizures

For several years, scientists have been looking closely at how CBD (cannabidiol) may help with Controlling Seizures in children and adults. Initial studies show that CBD can help those who have epilepsy and other conditions that cause convulsions. Here is what we know so far about treating these problems with cannabidiol and how CBD can help with controlling seizures.

Promising Research

Federal regulations have made it difficult for researchers to study CBD in the past. However, in 2018, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) allowed the use of CBD for treating epilepsy. As a result, there have been several studies that already show promising results. CBD offers a plant-based alternative to some of the strong medications currently on the market.  In addition, many patients are interested in using it for controlling seizures in epilepsy.

CBD and Controlling Seizures

Many of the studies on CBD have focused on the impact it has on epilepsy, and how it can be turned into a treatment to control seizures. For Instance, In a randomized, controlled trial, patients who had Lennox-Gastaut syndrome, received CBD or a placebo. Lennox-Gastaut syndrome is a severe type of epilepsy,

Study participants who took CBD had 41.9% fewer seizures! They received two doses a day of CBD, and those who took a higher dose of CBD saw a greater improvement.

Angelman Syndrome

Epilepsy is not the only medical condition that may benefit from CBD use. Researchers at the University of North Carolina School of Medicine found that CBD may help children with Angelman syndrome, which is a genetic condition that causes seizures and other health problems. They discovered that CBD injections helped reduce seizure severity and improved brain activity.

Cannabidiol may be able to help many people who suffer from seizures. It is a safe alternative to other medications that have serious side effects. As research continues, scientists may find a variety of medical conditions that could be treated with CBD at different doses.
