The Paleo Slow Cooker Review

Paleo Slow Cooker hi-res cover

I wasn’t too sure about reviewing The Paleo Slow Cooker by Arsy Vartanian since I don’t eat much meat,  but this is a Slow Cooker Cookbook which tempted me.   All the recipes are gluten-free and the dairy I see in the recipes is for butter or ghee which can be easily substituted.   I have been increasing protein so I thought I’d see what this book has to offer and boy am I glad I did!  Did I mention I love Slow Cooker recipes and this book gives you many gourmet recipes to enjoy!  I prefer how a Slow Cooker can make any cut of meat so tender and delicious.  Whether you’re a hardcore Paleo dieter or just looking to add a little protein into your diet in a healthy way, The Paleo Slow Cooker is for you and it is a hard back cookbook!

What I love about this book is that it also has a section for Slow Cooker Vegetables such as Persian Mixed Vegetables, Ratatouille and Vegetable Curry.   There is also a Soups section with recipes such as Butternut Squash Soup,  Artichoke Soup, Fennel Tomato Soup and more.    There are also sides and yummy desserts that are just for the Slow Cooker!

Of course being Paleo it has lots of chicken, beef and pork recipes.  But there are also recipes for lamb, fish and seafood for the Slow Cooker.   I am making Thai Red Beef Curry for the  family next week!   It has eggplant which I love in addition to coconut oil, kaffir limes, (which I have) lemongrass and so many more wonderful flavors!

  1. I think you cannot beat a old fashioned pot roast in a crock pot, it is so yummy and the meat turns out so tender and yummy

  2. I’m going to make it this thanksgiving; it’s ham with a pineapple glaze. I never liked ham until this recipe 🙂

  3. Whatever is in that bowl, I want!!
I have not cooked much in a crockpot.
I usually cook pot roast or make broth in a dutch oven on low.
I soak beans and cook them stove top.
Many people tell me it’d be easier to use slow cooker. So, if I win, I’d give it a try!
    Would love cookbooks and recipes.
