I had the opportunity to try a grain mill from Mockmill Home Grain Mill! Eating Gluten Free, I thought how fun to be able to make Banana Bread with freshly ground Chick-pea meal! I have heard how good it is in baking breads. I know that the Mockmill is meant for grains such as wheat and other grains such as quinoa, rice, sorghum, oat and others. But I really wanted to try what is called Besan flour aka Gram or Chickpea flour. In order to have Besan Flour, I had to grind Chick-peas. I knew that if the MockMill could grind the Chick-peas then it could grind anything!

Below are photos of me opening the box that was shipped to me containing the MockMill. I was so excited.
I removed the little screw that was in my KitchenAid, the Mockmill shaft fit into the KitchenAid hub perfectly. The screw took me awhile to get it secure but once that was done the Mockmill was securely held in the KitchenAid.
The photo below shows how the grain can be made finer or more coarse by turning the head to larger or smaller dots. I tried milling on the 3rd from the finest dot for the chick-pea meal but it wasn’t fine enough so I switched back to the 2nd from the finest and it was just perfect. It took about 10 minutes to grind 1 and 3/4 cups of flour from the chick-peas. The photo below shows the chick-peas in the Mockmill grain feeder. The Mill rocked slightly as it ground the chick-peas although it was very tightly secured in the KitchenAid hub. I then put rice in the feeder tray and it quickly made rice flour. This will be so great to have freshly milled meal/flour for baking! You don’t have to be there to watch it! You just put your grains in the feed tray and you have flour in a few minutes!
The photo below shows how finely the Mockmill ground the chick-peas into this lovely Besan Meal!

ABOUT THE MOCKMILL :
The mill is named after its inventor, Wolfgang Mock. Freshly milled flour will amaze you with their freshness and flavor! Freshly ground flour is so much healthier for you! Milling gives you more nutrients from your flour. The Mockmill is cute, easy to use and clean and uses a stone for grinding, which is healthier! It is also lightweight enough for me to handle easily with my arthritis! I have never ground my own flour meal. IF I can do it, anyone can do it. I love banana bread. I have never tried chocolate banana bread. This sounds delicious
Thanks Tina. I especially like this recipe because it uses Besan or Chickpea flour! It is so moist and gives such a good flavor to the bread. But so do the choc chips!! hahaha
Thank you for sharing. This looks delicious. I would love to try Banana Chocolate chip bread.

Thank you for this recipe. This looks delicious. We will have to give this recipe a try.
denise this is sooo tasty! If you don’t have a mill grinder you can buy besan flour in specialty shops or online. I just made apple cobbler last night using besan flour in the crumble. It was so good, my hubby who isn’t gluten free said this is the best cobbler topping that is GF DF I have tried so far!
Oh yum!! What an awesome recipe!
I love this grain mill. I have been looking at ones to purchase. This one is terrific.
Wow, I haven’t heard of this product. It is a nice tool for bakers, will share with my sis.
Wow, this is a great tool for the kitchen. I love baking and this is a must-have!
Wow, I want to try the mock mill. It would be really nice to bake with a fresh flour.
That looks amazing! I need to make some of it soon. I bet it tastes great too.
I’ve never thought of making my own flour but this looks really easy to do!
I’m not adverse to trying to mill my own flour at home. Sounds pretty easy actually!
I thought it would be far more work than that. I imagine the flavor is fresh beyond belief. The bread you made looks incredible!
I try to stay away from white flour and am always looking for alternatives. I’m so impressed by how nicely the mill was able to grind up the chickpeas.
I need to research the glueten free diet. I never knew that you could make flour from chickpeas or rice. That is a cool addition to the kitchen aid mixer.
Wow banana chocolate chip bread. What a great combination. This is the best transformation of the bread. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you so much for this wonderful and informative post. I just started eating Alkaline Electric about 4 months ago, and currently have been looking for something to grind my Kamut, Chickpeas and Spelt down much finer than what my blender does. I enjoy making my own flours rather than buying them, This is something I may just need to purchase.
This looks so delicious. Mockmill looks super easy to use and a must have for any baker!
This sounds so good. I wish more things were made with bananas as an ingredient. So yummy!
I’ve been hearing a lot about this Mockmill and I think it’s amazing and definitely worth a try! I love that you can make your own choice of flour as well!
